So yeah, I mean, with that much power, I doubt most people wouldn't elevate themselves to a God-like status. Who could possibly stop you ever? No military could ever defeat you, and surely no single person could stop you. Talking about Ring Charges is one thing, but then again, I never understood why the GLs don't carry their Lantern around everywhere they go anyway. That would never be a problem with me.

He'll yeah I'd be God, and probably act a lot like him too .

but WHY would U act like God? wat's the benefit, aside from getting jollies over being the most powerful thing on the planet?

that MO does nothing for me personally; I dont have any aspirations toward omnipotence. I like being *ME* that much.

Perhaps I used the ring to telepathically link every human mind on the planet, and brought about a global understanding about life and the forces behind it. It could potentially change the entire face of the planet in one single bound.

Technically, a GL ring can go anything your mind wills it to, provided enough charge. Well, just aim your ring through your battery, and Will-away, right?

Let's say that tomorrow, while you're completely alone, the ring of your choice came to you. You have a choice between having a secret identity or being public about your power. Which would you choose?
I'd probably keep it a secret, mainly because if word got out to foreign nations that I had a ring that could wipe out their weapon systems, they'd try to kill me. And eventually, I'd run out of charge, and an all-out nuclear exchange would kill me.
Plus the usual crap - protecting friends and family, etc.
What about you guys?

no offense guys, but if i get the ring, and they knew about it, well i guess that America will track me down and eventually know where i live then bomb me because im a threat , and say i have a weapon of mass destruction right? hehe... but yeah, a public figure would be good , this kinda reminds me of the dillema of Superman in Superman: Red Son

According to that test I would have either a Blue ring or an Orange one, so I'm going to go with a secret identity either way. People opposed to the Blue Corp would try to hurt my loved ones, and people who would want to apprehend me for being in the OLC would hunt me down easier if they knew who I was.

that sounds good on paper or even in principle, but of course the reality is unless U FORCED THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE to see how advantageous a "global understanding of life and everything the forces behind it" would be to everybody/anybody, wats more-than-likely going to happen is a world wide panic as every1 and their neighbor find their minds linked and just how it wouldve/couldve occured.

so when Iran decides to finally deal w/Iraq in an "its time for them peoples to DIE!!" -battle, we know who to come looking for.

I think the likeliest outcome of linking the minds of everybody on the planet telepathically would be that everybody on the planet would go insane. I mean, linking TWO people telepathically might be more than they could handle, given that we just aren't set up for that sort of interconnectedness, but the whole planet? We'd ALL go bonkers.

My whole thing Mav is that well as lame as the saying is "The Road to Hell is Paved with the best of intentions". No matter how good you think that plan will turn out there is so much that can & will go wrong. Calling yourself a god, it doesn't matter if you are or not, once you start considering yourself one your ego will grow and you will start looking down on those who need help, People will start worshiping you (like Korugar did with ) and as sad as I am to say it many people here can easily be swayed to believing that you are and then there will be factions who take different things you say and put meaning where there is none and start wars.

As for the linking peoples minds that is such a bad idea in general!

I'm not saying it would do good or bad, but it would change the face of the world.


And finally, you guys are right. Quite honestly, if I had a Power Ring, I would go on a massive power trip. I would do anything and everything that I wanted, because there would be no force in existence that could ever hope to stop me. Even if I did completely fuck up humanity, I would just erase it and start over again.

I think the chances of it leading to absolute clarity would be hinged upon most or ALL of those so linked actually recognizing the benefits of said union (and working to help OTHERS see it too), and not doing the more-than-likely action of freakin' out and causing the same to happen to others.

and while we're talking about human minds being linked as one: I just saw the Appleseed: Ex Machina, and part of the plot had to do w/linking the minds of all humans in order to facilitate peace..........which as U can guess didnt actually work.

This is a very good point I hadn't even thought of. That would also be ideal.

I was thinking more along the lines of "show everyone a shared vision of the entire universe and cosmos, and in that vision make it known that we are all in this together, and to harm one another is a waste of time." Kinda like what I think would happen if everyone on Earth smoked a joint at the same time, only way better. Like a giant celebration/clarification of humanity as an entire whole, for everyone.

It could go either way really. Thats why I said I wasn't restricted to one outcome. Maybe it goes all wrong, and everything goes to shit. I could just go up to the Moon and chill there for awhile, or Mars or something. I'd have all the time I needed to think, OR, I could go back and either try to help, or just destroy everything.
