You expressed GL's problem succinctly. I've seen those sentiments among all long-published titles/heroes, but GL's fanbase seems be one of the most divided. That's not surprising since GL's titular characters and eras differ wildly, but I've come to see that I'm in the minority as someone who has enjoyed just about all of it.

      • Thanks for posting. Sliding slowly, but the sales for BOTH titles are still sliding.

        • At least Hal beat Bazica this month.

          • Are the numbers for the POTA/GL crossover fairly normal for a crossover like this? Seems comparable to the second Star Trek crossover but the first one I thought sold much better.

I don't know what the expectations are for something like this. Did they expect more or is this in the ballpark of acceptable?

Is that some kind of win or something? You hate those characters that much?

Not really. I read GLs too. I just feel like Hal's book should be an A-book or the lantern flagship, but the numbers have mostly been the reverse.

                • I despise those characters that much. They are pretty much to GL what Poochie was to Itchy & Scratchy. The sooner they go away the better.

                  • Just curious... have you two bothered to read the series or have you completely written it off because it features characters you don't want? Personally, I enjoy it more than I do Hal and the GLs.

                    • Didn't Space Cop just say that he DOES read GLs?

And I was under the impression that Dave actually stopped reading both titles at some point. (Or am I just remembering him threatening to do so?)

I read both, and am still waiting for anything of real interest to happen in either one. I certainly don't find myself rushing to the comic shop on Wednesday. (I haven't been in weeks.)

ok so he does, great. i missed that as dave's response was the last one i read. you can stand down now, if you thought that was an attack or something.

i'm more so interested in what dave thinks. i don't understand hating something if you've never attempted to read it or give it a chance.

I see your point, but did DC say whether which book is the flag ship or not? The two books have been doing their own thing without any crossovers, which is surprising. The past sales trend could be based on GLs being better in the eyes of the consumer maybe? Venditti has been better on Hal and the GL Corp than the previous volume but not by much. The save grace for me has been the art of Sandavol.

I wasn't thinking it was an attack, I was just a bit perplexed.

As for Dave, I guess I'm interested to hear his answer, too. I suspect he just hates the characters from what he HAS read of them, and therefore has no desire to read more about them. If so, I can sympathize somewhat. There are a few characters that make me feel that way (Lobo is one- his presence in the new JLA title was a big part of why I didn't even give it a try).

                            • Though I don't consider myself a regular reader of either of these Green Lantern titles, I've read numerous issues of both. One, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, I consider to be completely mundane and treading ground that's so beaten I don't know if it can be beaten anymore. The other, Green Lanterns, I just consider to be bad. I don't think either title has much of worth to offer.

I wonder if these books will slink into the 20,000s. Green Lanterns I suspect will. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps has that New Gods arc coming up, and I don't know if that is going to draw anyone other than the regular readers, especially after "Godhead" was more or less a bust. I'm going to bet that they will go into the 20,000s. They'll probably keep shedding about 500-700 units each issue for a while longer.

Nope. It's just that a few of us here assumed Hal's was the flagship. But the title would seem to suggest that, if anything, GLs is the main title and Hal's is the equivalent of GLC.
