When I was a kid I lived in a rural area where there weren't any leash laws. People would let their dogs run around and didn't bother to put tags on them.

A stray dog started hanging around our house, so we fed him and considered him our dog. After a few months I was having a conversation with a family of local kids who said that he had started hanging around their house at about the same time, so they considered him their dog. And then later the kids in another family told me the same thing.

Turned out that the dog was getting fed by three different families of "owners."

No, I've read most of these posts and I'm pretty sure that was started by another user then others (I can think of one in particular) started referring to said boyfriend so much that it has become assumed.
