  • ive been meaning to ask. should the last however many gems be involved in these movies as in plot device or would you prefer they were already in the grasp of thanos? i feel like the whole mcguffen thing has been dragged to long as is. and for the love of god marvel please keep a few of your villains instead of killing them off quickly like malekif and ronan. wasted oppertunity for both honestly

      • Russos Are Directing ‘Avengers 3 & 4′; Want To Produce New ‘Spider-Man’ Movies

going straight to the best part

After Sony passed up on Marvel’s terms (over creative control), Overtice reports that Joe Russo actually emailed Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal in early November, expressing a thought along the lines of “A pity that negotiations with Marvel did not work” (translated). The report continues, stating that Russo confirmed in that email exchange that he and his brother are directing Infinity War and that their duties won’t interfere with them directing The Gray Man for Sony beforehand.

The leaked emails make it clear that Sony was – and still is – extremely unsure of what to do with the Spider-Man franchise going forward, or even if they’re up to the task. There’s an email to Pascal from Spidey producer Avi Arad who was pushing hard for the chance to develop a Venom movie and a conversation between Pascal and Jeff Robinov, Former Warner Bros. boss and creator of Studio 8 (who have a distribution deal with Sony), where Pascal expresses concerns with going with Sinister Six next and needing advice. Robinov does not want Sony to give Spider-Man back to Marvel but Pascal doesn’t know what to do.

There’s then allegedly another email from the Russos just a week later, on November 17 2014, who offer to produce Spider-Man movies going forward with a new contract, one that would essentially push out current franchise producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach. How that would work is unclear from the given information but we assume it would be part of some larger agreement between Sony and Marvel that would give the character to Marvel and involve the studios sharing duties on the new MCU-approved Spider-Man trilogy.

            • NEW ROUND OF SONY LEAKS REVEAL POSSIBLE "AQUAMAN" DIRECTOR, "X-MEN/FANTASTIC FOUR" CROSSOVER FILM AND "KRAVEN'S LAST HUNT" ADAPTATION
The Daily Beast's first report deals with an 8-page document outlining a plan to reboot the "Spider-Man" franchise sent to Sony Pictures Entertainment's co-chairman Amy Pascal from Jeff Robinov, head of Studio 8. In the document Robinov advises against telling another origin story when the franchise is rebooted, and offers a list of filmmakers "that come to mind" to takeover the reboot. Some of the notable names include Brad Bird, James Gunn, Edgar Wright, as well as "The LEGO Movie's" Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who have been mentioned in previous leaks to take on the Web-head for Sony.

Rabinov also suggests that a future film could tackle "Kraven's Last Hunt," the story from "Amazing Spider-Man" #293-294, with Raboniv adding "In fact, Comic Book Resources polled their readers in 2012, and this storyline was voted as the single greatest Spider-Man storyline of all time." Robinov also makes the case for an adult Spider-Man jumping to the big-screen, writing, "It might feel fresh to see Peter Parker juggling with adult issues. He’s done so in the comics for decades, and kids still found this fun to read."

The Daily Beast's second report is focused on an emails to Pascal from Michael De Luca, co-president of Columbia Pictures, and names Jeff Nichols ("Mud") as the director for 2018's "Aquaman" film set to star Jason Momoa, as well as plans for Fox's "Fantastic Four" and "X-Men" franchises to crossover sometime in the future, adding that Sony should pursue a Spider-verse crossover:

“[Simon] Kinberg told me fox is steering Xmen and Fantastic Four into an eventual team up film,” wrote De Luca in the email. “Seems to me maybe, since the Spider-man universe itself is deep, you guys should look at sinister six, new spidey, female movie and venom as linked pieces leading to eventual mega movie ala Feige and Fox and not stand alone single films. It's early in all these and you can still map out a blueprint for connective tissue.”

MARVEL SPIDER-MAN ACTORS, VILLAINS & DIRECTOR RUMORED

The Sony e-mail hacks have released the news that Spider-Man may be going back to Marvel for Captain America 3 with a new actor and costume.

Now a batch of rumors has hit the net from a reddit user.

According to the user, who is new to reddit, Sony Japan has stepped in (which was already rumored) and negotiated a deal with Marvel. It's said the final deal will be put into place during the upcoming Sony Spider-Man summit in January.

It's said (again, already previously mentioned) that Marvel will hold creative control over Spider-Man, with Sony owning the distribution rights, a share in profits and merchandising, etc.

The rumor goes on to mention following a Spider-Man cameo in Captain America 3, that Sony plans a new Spider-Man movie for 2017 (leaked e-mails stated 2017). It's again said Marvel plans on skipping the origin story for the first film and will jump into Spider-man already being a hero for a few years with Peter Parker possibly being in college or just afterwards.

It's said Marvel has already begun development on the script and is currently looking for directors, with Sylvain White (Person of Interest, Hawaii 5-0, Losers) mentioned as a possibility.

It's again stated Marvel will not be bringing Andrew Garfield back as Spider-Man, but it is said Marvel has talked with Garfield as they have interest in bringing him on board in a different role for future Marvel Studios films.

A rumored list of actors said to be wanted by Marvel for the new Spider-Man includes: Anton Yelchin, Dylan O'Brien, Freddie Highmore, Thomas Mann, Logan Lerman, Michael Angarano, Douglas Booth, Nat Wolff, and Skandar Keynes.

Rumored villains for the first Spider-Man reboot movie said to be under consideration are Mysterio and/or Shocker, with it also possible Vincent D'Onofrio could reprise as the Kingpin from the Netflix Daredevil series. It's noted that Marvel doesn't want to go the route of the previous Spider-Man movies with too many villains, so possibly just one villain will be featured.

MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN SAID TO BE DONE DEAL; LOGAN LERMAN FAVORITE

A reddit user who claims they have a friend close to Disney is stating a deal is now in place for Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Studios movies.

If legit (could be a big if), the user claims a meeting was recently held between Sony and Marvel that lasted about 40 minutes. The meeting is said to have gone over the "final kinks" of the deal they have been working on to "incorporate Spider-Man into the MCU."

It's said the meeting was short because the deal for Spider-Man is already in place, and they were "simply tending to other commodities."

If the deal is in place, Marvel can now use Spider-Man possibly as a post-credit scene for The Avengers 2 and a cameo in Captain America 3.

According to the rumor, the deal is expected to be officially announced after next month's "Spidey Summit," and the "heavy favorite" to play Spider-Man is Logan Lerman.

Logan Lerman, known for the Percy Jackson movies and most recently Fury, was said to be up for the role of Spider-Man prior to Andrew Garfield, where the actor previously stated: “There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s [Spider-man] one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it.”
