If you ran Marvel or DC, what would your first priority be as publisher?

Getting books to the newsstands. It's just unaaceptable that potential new readers have almost no alternative to finding a comic book store. On the other hand, you can't put the comic book store owners out of business. So I'd try to establish a two-pronged strategy. I'd have a set number of core titles (for DC one title each starring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Justice League, Legion, Teen Titans and one or two others) that are available on newsstands (with one cover) and in comic book stores (with a variant cover). The other books are comic book store exclusive. Crossovers can only happen within one group of titles.
