  • He might not be dead...

    https://nypost.com/2022/07/26/leave-...ium=SocialFlow

“Leave It to Beaver” star Tony Dow is still alive, despite a death announcement posted on his official Facebook page Tuesday morning.

Dow’s management said his wife, Lauren Shulkind, believed her husband was dead and passed that message on to his team, according to an updated Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon. She is reportedly “distraught” over the error.

“This morning Tony’s wife Lauren, who was very distraught, had notified us that Tony had passed and asked that we notify all his fans. As we are sure you can understand, this has been a very trying time for her,” the updated announcement read. “We have since received a call from Tony’s daughter-in-law saying that while Tony is not doing well, he has not yet passed. Tony’s son Christopher and his daughter-in-law Melissa have also been by his side comforting him, and we will keep you posted on any future updates.”

Veteran actor Bernard Cribbins, who narrated The Wombles and starred in the film adaptation of The Railway Children, has died aged 93.

A statement from his agent, Gavin Barker Associates, said: "His career spanned seven decades with such diverse work ranging from films like The Railway Children and the Carry On series, hit 60s song Right Said Fred, a notorious guest on Fawlty Towers and narrating The Wombles.

"He worked well into his 90s, recently appearing in Doctor Who and the CBeebies series Old Jack's Boat.

"He lost his wife of 66 years, Gill, last year.

"Bernard's contribution to British entertainment is without question. He was unique, typifying the best of his generation, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him."

          • ^Yeah, Cribbins was important to Doctor Who fans because he was a main character in the alternate 60s Doctor Who movie adaptations (with Peter Cushing) and then became the grandfather of a companion (Donna) in NuWho.
I just watched him recently in revisiting Hitchcock's Frenzy.

Nichelle Nichols, the multi-talented actress, singer, and civil rights pioneer, has died today, according to a post on her official website. Nichols, who rocketed to worldwide fame, thanks to her iconic role of Uhura from “Star Trek” in the 1960s, and later on “The Animated Series” and the six feature films which followed, was remembered by her son, Kyle Johnson.

“I regret to inform you that a great light in the firmament no longer shines for us as it has for so many years,” Johnson wrote on the official website, Uhura.com.

“Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away,” wrote Johnson. “Her light, however, like the ancient galaxies now being seen for the first time, will remain for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration.”

Ditto. I had hoped to meet her, but now she’s one of three I won’t get the chance to meet from the original crew. She lived a pretty long and important life. Whoopi Goldberg cited her as a major reason she pursued a Trek part and even realized she could be on TV at all.

She is definitely a Icon. I mean first interacial kiss on television during a time when race tentions were high.
