I thought Crimson Peak was pretty good and enjoyed it despite how twisted it is. It wasn't what I was expecting and I don't mean that in a negative way. The movie is a gothic romance disguised as a gothic horror movie. It has solid performances from the cast and it's another solid film from Del Toro.

Attack on Titan (Part I) 2015

For some odd reason, this movie title was ringing around in my head today, so I decided to watch it, not knowing what I was in for. I never read the books or comics, but I kept seeing this image of the colossal Titan here and there, and it looked somewhat interesting. So, basically, Kaiju Zombies. Neat.
I'll watch Part II tomorrow night.

Tightrope (1984)

"You can have a hard-on anytime you want."
A lot of people in the kaiju community are big fans of this franchise. I read the first manga and was underwhelmed though it may be that I'm getting tired of post-apocalyptic stuff.Originally posted by Jeff View PostAttack on Titan (Part I) 2015 . . . A college close-by to where I live is a doing telluride event for 7 days, and each night they're playing a movie that just got released at the festival. The previous day it was Arrival, and today it was La-La land, so I managed to see La-La Land before any of you suckers, ha-ha. I kid.
As for the film itself, I absolutely loved it. It felt like both a tribute to musicals and to music in general. Chazelle's script and direction are top-notch, and Stone and Gosling give possibly the performances of their careers. My favorite scene was probably the observatory / museum sequence since it was all music, and no talking, and some of the imagery sequences were striking. If there's anything that I didn't like it's the predictable nature of the ending (won't spoil it for any of you guys). Otherwise it's a great movie.

Nosferatu (1922)
Full comments will be in the Classic Horror thread, but suffice it to say the film was enthralling, as was the making-of feature.Villain Draft 3: Fourth Place Winner
